In Grade 12, Yashas was elected Class Representative by his classmates — the formal liaison between Grade 12 students and school administration. He was formally inducted at the school's Investiture Ceremony and received his badge in front of the school community.
Being elected is categorically different from being appointed. It requires the trust of classmates who know you every day — people who choose you to represent them and to be trusted with their concerns. That is a different and more direct kind of recognition than any award.
