Both awards on this page are given by the school to a single student each year — not based on a competition score or a rank, but on the judgment of the teachers who have watched you work across the full breadth of what you do. Listed from earliest to most recent.
School Flute Award — Grade 9
The School Flute Award is given to one student per year for outstanding flute performance across the school year. I received it in Grade 9. I had been playing Indian classical flute since Grade 3 — by Grade 9, that was six years of practice, and six years of performing at every school event that had a stage. The award reflected not a single good performance, but the body of work behind it.
What I value most about this recognition is that it came from people who had watched me play across years — teachers who knew how much I'd practised, who had seen the early performances and the later ones. That kind of recognition, earned over time, means more to me than a score on a sheet.
IT Wizard — 2× consecutive years
The IT Wizard award is given to one student in the entire school each year — the student whose technology contribution, skill, and initiative across the year is judged the highest. I received it in Grade 10 and again in Grade 11. Winning it once is a recognition. Winning it back-to-back, across two years where I was simultaneously running Battery Bin, building PhishSentinel, founding BrandSnap, and leading Helios Tech Club, is a statement about consistency.
The award was given by teachers who saw all of it — not just the projects, not just the grades, but the way I showed up for the school's technology needs and kept building things whether or not anyone was asking. I'm proud of both of them.
